Our Heavyweight Lineup:
Specialized Trailers for Every Job
At Transcar, we utilize a range of equipment to ensure your heavy machinery is moved safely and efficiently.
Removable Gooseneck Trailers, commonly known as RGNs, are highly versatile trailers ideal for transporting heavy and oversized equipment. The unique feature of an RGN is its detachable front, which allows the trailer to be lowered to the ground to create a ramp. This design enables easy loading and unloading of self-propelled machinery, such as excavators, bulldozers, and other large construction equipment.
Capacities:
- Load Capacity: Up to 150,000 pounds (depending on the number of axles)
- Length: Typically 29 to 65 feet
- Width: 8.5 feet (102 inches)
- Deck Height: 18 to 24 inches (lower deck)
- Axles: Can be configured with multiple axles (up to 20+) for heavier loads
- Ideal For: Extremely heavy, tall, and long equipment that exceeds standard legal dimensions
Examples of Cargo:
- Construction Equipment: Bulldozers, excavators, wheel loaders, and cranes
- Mining Machinery: Large drills, rock trucks, and earthmovers
- Agricultural Equipment: Oversized tractors and combines
- Industrial Machinery: Large generators, turbines, and press machines
- Oil Field Equipment: Drill rigs, pump units, and fracturing equipment
Flatbed Trailers are the most common type of trailers used for transporting goods that do not require enclosure or special equipment. They have an open platform with no sides or roof, allowing for easy loading and unloading from all angles. Flatbeds are versatile and can carry a wide range of cargo, including construction materials, machinery, and equipment that fits within legal height and weight limits.
Capacities:
- Load Capacity: Up to 48,000 pounds
- Length: 48 to 53 feet
- Width: 8.5 feet (102 inches)
- Deck Height: Approximately 60 inches from the ground
- Maximum Freight Height: 8.5 feet (to stay within the 13.5-foot legal height limit when loaded)
- Ideal For: Standard-sized equipment and machinery that doesn’t exceed legal dimensions
Examples of Cargo:
- Building Materials: Lumber, steel beams, and construction supplies
- Machinery: Forklifts, skid-steer loaders, and compact excavators
- Vehicles: Cars, vans, and small trucks
- Agricultural Equipment: Hay balers, plows, and small to medium-sized tractors
- Industrial Equipment: Palletized goods, pipes, and tanks
Step Deck Trailers, also known as Drop Deck Trailers, are similar to flatbeds but have a lower deck height. They feature two deck levels: an upper deck close to the tractor and a lower main deck that drops down after clearing the tractor unit. This design allows for the transport of taller loads that exceed the height limitations of a standard flatbed but still need to remain within legal height restrictions.
Capacities:
- Load Capacity: Up to 48,000 pounds
- Length: Total length of 48 to 53 feet
- Main (Lower) Deck: 37 to 43 feet
- Upper Deck: 10 to 11 feet
- Width: 8.5 feet (102 inches)
- Deck Heights:
- Upper Deck: Approximately 60 inches
- Lower Deck: Approximately 38 inches
- Maximum Freight Height:
- Lower Deck: Up to 10 feet
- Upper Deck: Up to 8.5 feet
- Ideal For: Equipment that’s too tall for a flatbed but doesn’t require an RGN or Double Drop
Examples of Cargo:
- Construction Equipment: Backhoes, asphalt pavers, and medium-sized excavators
- Agricultural Machinery: Large tractors, sprayers, and harvesters
- Industrial Equipment: Boilers, tanks, and oversized machinery components
- Vehicles: Buses, recreational vehicles (RVs), and ambulances
- Miscellaneous: Prefabricated structures and tall palletized goods
Double Drop Deck Trailers have a well in the center of the trailer that sits extremely low to the ground. This well allows for the transport of excessively tall equipment that cannot be carried on flatbeds or step decks due to height restrictions. The trailer has three sections: a front upper deck, a middle well (lower deck), and a rear upper deck.
Capacities:
- Load Capacity: Up to 40,000 pounds (can be increased with additional axles)
- Length:
- Overall Length: Approximately 48 to 53 feet
- Well (Middle Deck): 20 to 29 feet
- Width: 8.5 feet (102 inches)
- Deck Heights:
- Front and Rear Decks: Approximately 60 inches
- Well: 18 to 24 inches
- Maximum Freight Height in Well: Up to 11.5 feet (depending on deck height)
- Ideal For: Extremely tall equipment, such as large industrial machinery, transformers, and oversized construction equipment
Examples of Cargo:
- Industrial Machinery: Large transformers, generators, and press machines
- Construction Equipment: Tall cranes, drilling rigs, and large excavators
- Wind Energy Components: Wind turbine blades and tower sections
- Oversized Tanks: Storage tanks and silos
- Specialized Equipment: Aircraft parts and oversized HVAC units
Landoll Trailers are specialized trailers equipped with a hydraulic tilting deck and a traveling axle system. This design allows the entire deck to tilt and lower to the ground, facilitating the loading and unloading of heavy machinery without the need for additional ramps or cranes. Landoll trailers are ideal for equipment that is difficult to load onto standard trailers, such as non-operational machinery or items with low ground clearance.
Capacities:
- Load Capacity: Up to 80,000 pounds (varies based on model and axle configuration)
- Length: 40 to 53 feet
- Width: 8.5 feet (102 inches)
- Deck Height: Variable; can be lowered to ground level
- Features:
- Hydraulic Tilt Deck: Enables easy ground-level loading
- Traveling Axle System: Adjusts the axle position to balance the load
- Winch System: Assists in loading non-operational or wheeled equipment
- Ideal For: Transporting heavy equipment with low ground clearance, disabled vehicles, and specialized machinery
Examples of Cargo:
- Construction Equipment: Paving machines, rollers, and low-clearance excavators
- Non-Operational Machinery: Broken-down forklifts, loaders, and other equipment that cannot move under their own power
- Industrial Equipment: Large printing presses, CNC machines, and other heavy manufacturing equipment
- Agricultural Equipment: Combines, cotton pickers, and other large harvesters with low ground clearance
